The history of application of cement concretes and the prospect of their further use are analyzed. Durability issues for cement concretes in the Russian Federation are considered within the framework of transition to European norms. The proposal is made to make these changes during a transition period throughout which constructers and designers have the right to choose – whether to apply national standards or European standards for the purpose of meeting the basic requirements of the Federal Law of “Technical regulations on the safety of buildings and constructions”.
