The Prerequisites of regional settlement system formation of the regional of the central region of Russia — the interaction of the Moscow metropolis and its surrounding of Russian interfluve — are considered. Status and importance of the Russian interfluve region are formulated. The comparison of the metropolis and the region is set the trends for their development. The settlement models of global and interregional levels are used as the basis of the most effective in the current structure of the historical cities of the region.
