An analysis of the urban planning history of Kamyshin city was carried out. By the example of Kamyshin, the author shows the role of the historical-architectural heritage, its urban planning and style-generating influence on the formation of the spatial urban medium, and determines the problems of preservation and renovation of architectural and urban planning heritage in a small historical city.
