This article is focused on the study of corrosion deposits in steel pipes in water supply networks using the scanning electron microscopy. The spherical structures were found in tubercles that are formed during pitting corrosion. Based on literature data analysis we carried out the comparison with similar spherical particles found in the nature. It is concluded that the presence of such spheres is typical for electrolysis process in the presence of large corrosion current, initiated by external factors.
