Methodologies for calculation of heat loss by collectors for underground communications developed in the mid-20th century were not clarified. The article describes and analyzes the results of calculation of heat loss by underground communication collector in soil by V. D. Machinsky’s method for cold and warm periods of the year. Time offset changes in the air temperature in the underground collector because of the massiveness of the ground and due to the changes in the outside temperature is difficult to be carried out by this method.
