The authors consider the concept of “environmental security” in the context of creating a favorable living environment in the city and the structure of the system “human environment — urban areas — anthropogenic factors — the level of ecological safety of the territory”. The factors characterizing the level of environmental safety is determined. Recommendations on application of the statistical principal components method in the assessment of anthropogenic factors of the urban environment are provided.
