Vocational teaching of the English language enables a future designer to obtain skills and knowledge, which provide personal competitiveness and chances of success in professional activity. The article is concerned with professionally-oriented approach to teaching the English language. The author analyses various view-points existing among scientists in pedagogy. The paper also stresses that communication in a foreign language becomes the important element in professional activity of future specialists.
