INTERACTION BETWEEN PINE WOOD MODIFIED BY PHENYL-BORAT AND WATER

Studied is the specific surface, water- and moisture absorption of pine wood modified by water-diluted phenyl-borat solutions. It is determined that modification of phenyl-borat, in particular 10% monoethanolamine(N → B)phenyl-borat, allows reduce significantly the amount of water absorption when the wood is in water, reduce the water absorption when the wood is in moist air. Probably, it becomes possible by decreasing the surface area of modified timber.
