The problem of preventing the degradation of living environment in socialist cities in the 1970s and 80s of the XX century is considered. The changes in social structure that occurred in the late XX — early XXI centuries were taken into account when developing the recommendations. The author proposes the system of integrated and targeted methods of improving apartments, houses and residential groups.
