RELEVANCY OF AUTOMATION OF PARALLEL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF COMPLEX OBJECTS

The authors of the paper reveal the disadvantages of the existing approach to implementation of design and construction as all stages of the approach are done in a certain sequence. The great disadvantage of this approach is that it takes too much time to obtain necessary document allowing contractor to start construction. Therefore contractors often neglect the codes and regulatory documents to decrease the time and cost of the project. The authors develop a new approach called “parallel design and construction”. The new organization of design and construction process will make it possible to speed the rate of industrial construction. The complex automation of all operation is a necessary condition for successful realization of the new concept. The technical aspect of the parallel design and construction also includes client-server infrastructure between all the participants of the process. The given approach should be considered when the existing codes and standards are reviewed as that will eliminate inconsistency between legislative base of construction industry and practical experience of the engineers involved in the process.
